I always compare what I can manage now to the time when I was in my early 30s. I was living with two small children in Toronto, raising them alone as my marriage had ended, going to school full-time, working part-time, and exhausted all the time....and now a trip to the grocery store and the psychiatrist's office wears me out. It's hard to accept. The change is so dramatic, and it's not just the passage of 20 years, it's the transformation from energetic and optimistic and happy and fulfilled to a woman who feels very old and worn out and rarely smiles and dreads everything.
